I'am hooked and look forward to reading all your stuff.

Thank you for putting your thoughts on "paper". I hope some of the Charlie Francis material recently purchased will aid in further understanding.

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10695719246636749748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1721936663537182702.post-1635330955859652992011-07-11T11:23:44.324+02:002011-07-11T11:23:44.324+02:00Tom,

Looking forward to more info both from you and from Derek Evely.
Thank you one more time.Mladen Jovanovićhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10496128173509866986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1721936663537182702.post-64810789899678019182011-07-05T13:29:23.137+02:002011-07-05T13:29:23.137+02:00Hi Mladen,
For your and your readers information ...Hi Mladen,

For your and your readers information there is a slight mistake in this article. Your diagram 'Block Training (Evely)' is pure block training where one classification is performed to the exclusion of all others. Your diagram 'Block Training (Bondarchuk)' is actually a Block Complex-Combination method and not a pure Block method. Your labels are misleading because Derek Evely uses Dr B's terminology and all of this work is actually Dr Bs. Dr B has used and discussed the Block Complex-Combination method of training organisation and Derek makes no claims that this is his method. In fact Derek rarely uses the Block Complex Combination (BCC) method himself.

FYI, the BCC is made up of a Physical Preparatory Block (GPE and SPE) and a Technical Preparatory Block (SDE and CE). The key difference in your diagram over a Block Complex method is that the Technical Preparation block is divided into two parts. 1. the stage of Specific Preparation (when only SDE is used) and 2. the stage of Development of Sport Form where SDE and CE are done together.

Please note that the exercise sets are not changed in either block so it is not a variation method. Also both the Physical and Technical blocks end with the condition of sports form and the time it takes to achieve this will be individual to the athlete in all cases.

I know this is all very complicated, especially given the lack of good explanations available on the internet and in printed material, but hopefully it will be elucidated in Dr Bs upcoming publications in English. The information in this post should be correct as myself and Derek have worked together for some time and he has explained Dr Bs system to me in much depth.

Regards,

Tom Crick
Coaching Professional Development Manager
UKA (UK Athletics)Down-Right Performancehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16379510284965142000noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1721936663537182702.post-17233926198842654392011-01-10T15:01:20.958+01:002011-01-10T15:01:20.958+01:00Thanks for thorough analysis Carlo. I do agree that there is a BIOLOGICAL as well as LOGISTICAL reasons behind it, and as you will see in the soccer articles I will suggest certain 'sequential' model.
Thank you one more time for your feedback Carlo!Mladen Jovanovićhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10496128173509866986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1721936663537182702.post-43893608482722403472011-01-10T13:25:40.043+01:002011-01-10T13:25:40.043+01:00"There might be different emphasis on each gr..."There might be different emphasis on each group of exercise over the training period and that might be more important than simple presence of the exercises in the training program."
C - VERY important point

"15/15 intervals at vVO2max (Billat method)"
C - Short intervals are the first stage of Billat's method, she aims to use way longer intervals; in fact, I used 3'/90" intervals with my soccer players.

Please note: my table is not a training planning/programming sequence, rather the organization of all the concepts involved in Periodization.

"Certain problems can be identified with this sequential approach, like loosing of the achieved training effects (since there is no maintenance loads for goals that are not developed in certain blocks), ‘adaptational stiffness’, monotony, etc."
C - I believe sequentiality (certainly not in a clear cut way) is needed to create, as Verkhoshansky said, the morpho-functional adaptations required for a higher level of development of the following, more specific, physical trait.

"I may be wrong, but with my current knowledge both classifications are important and basically they should be used together."
C - Very much agree. The exercise classification is a good tool for programming, and the exercises should be planned; sometime I plan the goal and then substitute it with the exercises at a later moment (on the same Excel spreadsheet).

--

In team sport settings, or whenever the CP is very extended in the annual plan, I keep GPE/SPE in CP.

Best,
Carlo Buzzichelli, TBI-MPS
Technical Director of the Tudor Bompa Institute - International
Adjunct Professor of "Planning and Programming of Training" at the Uinversity of Sport Science and Physical Culture of Camagüey (Cuba)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08628601619514018234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1721936663537182702.post-85200523809816763962010-12-25T19:02:37.417+01:002010-12-25T19:02:37.417+01:00Tl;dr.Tl;dr.lylemcdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09930090718146100773noreply@blogger.com
